Ideas
Name your tables after traditional anniversary presents such as paper, cotton, leather, fruit, bronze, pottery, silver, or gold. You can also incorporate the name into the centerpieces. For example, the Paper table might feature folding cranes, or vases wrapped in decorative paper. For Fruit, use a giant pile of perfect lemons in lieu of flowers, or have a florist mix wired fruits with more traditional stems.. Pottery, of course, calls for a fantastic handcrafted jug instead of a vase.
During the dancing, do a couples dance. The DJ will get everyone on the dance floor, then ask for only those who have been together at least a year to stay dancing. Then he gradually increases this number, so that by the end, only the longest-lasting couple is still on the dance floor. The brand new couple should present this long-lasting couple with a bouquet of flowers, or another trinket of congratulations.
Display the wedding photos of loved ones with happy marriages. Although many people show the wedding pictures of their parents and grandparents, you can expand on this idea. Include a note in the invitations or save-the-dates that reads, "If you have a happy marriage or long-lasting relationship, we'd love to have a picture of the two of you for a display at our reception. Ideally this will be a wedding or commitment ceremony photo, but any picture showing your love for one another will be great to have." Guests will love looking at all the different pictures, picking out those they know and love.
